- Caerphilly County Borough Council v Matthew Hughes and Others [2005], High Court, Lawtel 17.03.06: application to commit the respondents for contempt of court granted where each had signed statements of truth verifying witness statements and particulars of claim to the effect that one of them had sustained a knee injury as a result of losing his footing in a pavement hole. Evidence established beyond reasonable doubt that the injury had been sustained during a football match – Hughes sentenced to 14 days imprisonment
- William Russell Adams and Beverley Sian Adams v Rumney Valley District Council [2000] ABC.L.R. 07/20 Court of Appeal: failure to make a conscious choice between two alternative non negligent courses of action, one of which could lead to the damage in fact sustained, could not constitute a breach of duty.
- Target v Torfaen Borough Council [1991] 3 ALL ER27: landlord’s duty to provide handrail and lighting for external stairs
- Phyllis Ivy James and A N Other v Preseli Pembrokeshire District Council [1992] PIQR 114: considered test of dangerousness for a pavement where a claimant is suing for injury
